Privacy Policy

No Aurora account required

Aurora does not require an account or login for its focus features. A web checkout asks for an email address so the billing provider can send receipts and provide subscription management; that information is handled as part of the purchase, not stored in your local focus data.

Everything stays on your device

All of the information the app keeps, including your focus sessions, streaks, embers, journal entries, achievements, themes, and settings, is stored locally on your own device using your browser or system storage. It is saved under a single entry named "aurora.save".

This focus data is never sent to us or to a server. We have no database containing your journal, focus stats, or settings and cannot see that content.

Anonymous usage counts

Aurora counts a few anonymous events so we can tell whether the app is working for people: the app being opened, a focus session being completed, the Pro screen being viewed, and a break game being started. Each count carries only a random identifier generated on your device, the platform (web or app), whether Pro is active, the length in minutes of a completed session, and the name of the break game.

These counts contain no personal information and no content: never your journal entries, intentions, session names, focus history, or settings. They are not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking you across other apps or websites, and Aurora contains no ads or advertising trackers. The billing SDK is used only for purchase, entitlement, receipt, and subscription-management functions.

The random identifier is stored separately from your focus data and is cleared when you clear the app’s storage. You can switch the counts off entirely: set "aurora.noTrack" to "1" in your browser storage, or enable your browser’s Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control setting, and Aurora sends nothing.

Audio and network use

The browser app loads music and ambient sounds from Aurora’s own site. The mobile apps stream music from Aurora’s Cloudflare Pages host to keep the download size reasonable, while Android bundles the ambient loops it needs for background playback. Those hosts receive ordinary network information such as your IP address when a file is requested. Aurora does not send your focus history, journal, or app choices with an audio request.

If you use the "share" feature, the app creates an image on your device and hands it to your operating system's standard share menu. You choose where it goes (if anywhere); the app does not upload or receive it.

Purchases

App-store purchases are processed by Apple or Google under that store’s privacy policy and terms. Web purchases are processed by RevenueCat Billing using Stripe as its payment processor. RevenueCat keeps an app-user identifier and purchase or subscription status so Aurora can check whether Pro is active.

A web checkout sends your email and payment details directly to the billing providers. RevenueCat does not directly handle or store full card details, and Aurora does not receive or store them.

Distraction shield (mobile apps)

The Android app includes an optional distraction shield that you turn on yourself. While a focus session that you started is running, the app reads the package name of the app currently in the foreground, so it can show a full-screen shield over the apps you chose to block. Foreground app package names are read on-device during focus sessions only, and only after you have granted the Usage Access and draw-over-other-apps permissions in Android settings.

On iPhone and iPad, the optional distraction shield uses Apple Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity. Apple presents the app and website picker and gives Aurora privacy-preserving tokens for the choices you make. Those selections stay on your device and are used only to apply the shield during focus sessions.

Shield information is never written to your saved focus history and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. Turning the shield off, or revoking its system permission, stops enforcement. The browser version of Aurora cannot read or block other apps.

Children

Aurora is a general-audience productivity app and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Deleting your data

You can remove local focus data by clearing Aurora’s storage in your browser or device settings, or by uninstalling the app. Billing providers retain purchase records as described in their own policies and as required to operate subscriptions, receipts, refunds, and legal obligations.

To request deletion of the purchase records held by the billing provider, email [email protected] from the address used at checkout and we will forward the request to RevenueCat and Stripe. Aurora holds no account for you to delete: the app stores nothing about you on any server, so clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes all of your focus data permanently and immediately.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
